Bhubaneswar(Special Opinion)Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik spoke the people to make plasma donation a mass movement so that no one is deprived of the facility. Inaugurating Odisha’s Second Plasma Bank at Capital Hospital and launching a web portal for plasma donors on Tuesday here, Patnaik urged the people to donate plasma freely to save lives.A total of five plasma banks have been planned in Odisha as per the orders of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik for coronavirus patients. A total of 46 units of plasma have been collected from 23 cured COVID survivors in the last two weeks.The plasma therapy has been proved beneficial in the treatment of COVID patients. Two critical coronavirus patients have been fully cured by plasma therapy. The first plasma bank started at SCB Medical College and Hospital on July 15.Rashmi Ranjan Sahoo donated his plasma at the newly launched centre today. He recounted his experience during coronavirus treatment.During the inauguration ceremony, Chief Secretary Asit Tripathy said that the third plasma bank will begin operation at IGH Rourkela on Tuesday. Two other plasma banks at VIMSAR MCH Burla and MKCG MCH Berhampur by next week, Tripathy said.The Chief Minister appreciated the gesture of Odisha police, NDRF jawans, and fire brigade personnel by donating plasma for the treatment of coronavirus patients.Those who are interested in donating plasma can register through www. They will have to click the Plasma Donor Self Registration.Health Minister Naba Das appreciated the efforts of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik to introduce plasma therapy for the treatment of corona patients.
