Vijayawada(Special Opinion )Speaking at the programme organized at Raj Bhavan to felicitate Koneru Humpy on her stunning achievement by winning the Women’s World Rapid Chess Champion 2019 held in Moscow, Russia in December 2019, Andhra Pradesh Governor Sri Biswa Bhusan Harichandan said Koneru Humpy made the whole country proud of her achievement. The Governor said Koneru Humpy was a highly talented Chess Champion having achieved name and fame at a very young age by winning three Gold Medals in World Youth Chess Championships and also becoming the youngest woman ever to achieve the title of Grand master in 2002 at the age of 15 years.Governor Sri Harichandan said Koneru Humpy has won the Women’s World Rapid Championship, because of her talent, single-mindedness and the ability to work hard and it is the biggest achievement by an Indian woman Chess player. He wished Hampy to win many more such Championships in future. The Governor felicitated Koneru Humpy by presentation of a shawl and a memento. Minister for Tourism, Culture and Youth Advancement Sri Muttamsetti Srinivas Rao, Sports Authority MD Sri K. Bhaskar, Secretary to Governor Sri Mukesh Kumar Meena and Joint Secretary to Governor Sri Arjuna Rao, were also present on the occasion.
